Vaughan, Lillian Yeager
Lillian Yeager Vaughan 87, passed away on September 2, 2013. She was born April 28, 1927 in Wanda, West Virginia to her parents Emory and Beulah (Plumley) Yeager. Several years after her marriage to James Donald (Don) Vaughan Sr., they moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1953 with their young son, James Donald (Jim) Vaughan Jr., settling into a new home in Sunnyslope, Lillian remained in their family home until 2010. Lillian was active in her neighborhood, serving on the John C. Lincoln Hospital Auxiliary and devoting much time in support of Sunnyslope High School sporting events, especially during football and track seasons, where her son, Jim, was a leading player on SHS teams. Lillian devoted her career to Valley National Bank, rising through the ranks to the position of Branch Manager, a notable achievement at that time. Lillian was very active in Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron for the local chapter. She was very proud of being the first woman to get her private pilot's license in West Virginia, reflective of the love of flying that ran through the Yeager family. During her final years, Lillian was surrounded by the love and excellent care provided by the staff of the Beatitudes Campus of Care and, most recently, the support of Randy, John and other Hospice of the Valley nurses. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Don, son Jim, parents Emory and Beulah, brothers Grady Sr., Earl, and Emory Jr., and sisters, Sarah Carroll and Shella Yeager. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Linda (Macdonough) Vaughan, grandsons Robert Justin and Michael James, nieces Jacquelyn Ellington, Sally Yeager and Nancy Sipp, nephews Grady Yeager, Jr. and Steve Yeager, and sister-in-law Juanita Corron.
